A world of opportunity awaits
01 / The game
There is more than one way to make your fortune. Navigate an island world, connect its markets and turn a small venture into a thriving business. Every turn brings a new decision.

Connect six ports, seek out profitable cargo and plan your next voyage. A good route can be worth its weight in gold.

Invest in resources and production. Turn raw materials into valuable goods and give your trading business room to grow.

Expand your fleet and face rival captains. With pirates at sea, knowing when to fight is as valuable as knowing when to sail away.
02 / From the world of Golden Carrack
03 / Making of
Before the ports, trading routes and pirate fleets, there was a fascination with building a world. Golden Carrack grew into a game about the people, goods and ships moving through it.
The spark
Jasper Flick’s Hex Map tutorials at Catlike Coding were a major inspiration for starting Golden Carrack. Hexagonal terrain, rivers, roads and pathfinding made a bigger question irresistible: what kind of game could live on this map?
Our answer became a world of independent captains. Cities are places to invest, not territory to conquer. A cargo hold, a local business or a risky voyage can all be the beginning of a fortune.

Procedural towns, city investments, markets, resource extraction and a shipyard turned the map into the beginnings of an economy.
Naval battles took shape, followed by combat effects and cannon fire. Fleet size, damage and the choice to retreat became part of a captain’s story.
AI investment planning, heraldic identities, four scenarios, pirate raids and touch-friendly controls brought more life and variety to each voyage.
Milestones reconstructed from the project’s Git history. Pictures show the current game, not archived versions. Development is ongoing.
04 / Captain’s guide
Start with one manageable voyage. Learn the local market, protect your ship and keep enough gold for the decisions you haven’t made yet.
Compare reputation and political, economic and criminal connections. Then choose a scenario and find your ship, nearby ports and available markets.
Select your ship and tap a destination. Review the route before confirming. Longer courses continue at the start of your next turn. The on-screen joystick, zoom and rotation controls work on phones and computers.
Compare buying cost with the likely selling price at your destination. Check available buyers, cargo space and travel time. Leave money aside for repairs and loan payments.
A resource site needs your warehouse in its connected city. Sell the raw output or supply production. Crafting needs the right building and every recipe ingredient: copper ingots, for example, need copper and coal.
Repair damaged ships at a suitable shipyard. Escape is contested, not guaranteed. Victory may recover part of an opponent’s cargo, but only if you have room to carry it.
Read News and check loan deadlines. Reputation of 5 or less can trigger an inspection; 25 or more earns a control-phase bonus. Failed smuggling and attacks on rival captains can make a profitable-looking plan very costly.
Think in net worth, not just cash. Fleet, cargo, investments and debt matter too. Follow the victory target shown in your game; being the last active captain is another way to win.
